Sew Grateful Week 2014 – Day 1 Funnygrrl Style

My Happy Sewing Place

It is Sew Grateful Week in the blogosphere.  (I hate that word too.  But there you have it.)  Day 1, today, is a day when many are offering giveaways.  I have problems with giveaways as I never get to the post office and I’ve had trouble in the past.  But I did want to have a giveaway to take part in the fun!  So here goes.

I am sew grateful for Tasia at Sewaholic Patterns.  Not only has she filled her blog with a sewtionary and offers multiple sew-alongs for her patterns but she is a fellow Canadian and small business owner!  I would like to offer a giveaway for one Sewaholic pattern to anywhere that Tasia ships.*  (Read her shipping info here.)  Leave a comment with the name of the Sewaholic Pattern you would choose and why you are grateful for sewing.  I will draw a name on March 2 so have your entries in by midnight March 2, 2014 MST.  I will get the pattern sent directly to your address from Sewaholic after we convo!

*This is a giveaway completely independent of Sewaholic and Tasia.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

  1. Wow, that’s so generous of you! I love the Sewaholic patterns and I’m currently trying to decide between the Cambie and the new maxi skirt. (Though, I’d probably pick the Cambie when it comes down to it just because I’ve been wanting that since last year!)

  2. I love sewaholic too! I’m also Canadian so I guess we’re probably a tiny bit biased 😉 I’d probably pick the Lonsdale dress, since it’s one of the few I don’t have and want to try.

  3. What a wonderful giveaway! I would love to have a chance to win a Robson Coat pattern, please, as it’s been on my list for a while 😀
I am also running my giveaway, too, as part of the Sew Grateful Week so please feel free to stop by.

  4. I would choose the Gabriola skirt – I love wearing maxi skirts! I am sew grateful for sewing because it allows me to be creative and express myself. Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. I am quite taken with Tasia’s new Gabriola skirt; it’s nice to see such a classy maxi (sorry, poor rhyming).
And I have to get on with my own giveaway. Thank you.

  6. What a lovely prize. I too really like her new Gabriola skirt. I’m thankful for sewing because it allows me to make things that fit my body and I think are more interesting than store bought clothing.

  7. Thanks so much for the giveaway! I have heard many good things about the Renfrew top pattern and would love to try it out! I’m grateful to have such an awesome online sewing community to learn from!

  8. What a nice giveaway! I would choose the Renfrew. (I sometimes feel like I’m the only person who hasn’t made one yet!) I’m grateful for sewing because it keeps me balanced and happy, and I feel grateful for the online sewing community because my sewing simply wouldn’t be where it’s at today without all the knowledge and support everyone provides.

  9. What an awesome giveaway! I love Sewaholic patterns and there are a few I have been eyeing. The new maxi skirt is awesome looking and I love me a maxi skirt. I also like the Tofina pants and the cambie… Happy Sew Grateful Week!

  10. Ohh, I love your Minoru, and that’s exactly what I’d go for! I really want it make it up in waterproof fabric.

I am grateful for sewing because it lets me have a creative outlet that’s also useful – I get twitchy when I think I’m not doing something productive! But also because it means I can finally wear trousers that fit me both in the waist and in the hip! And I can wear shirts with sleeves that don’t finish two inches above my wrist! 😉

  11. Oooh! Super excited about this give away! I would choose the Thurlow trouser pattern. I’m grateful to sewing because it is the one thing in my life that I feel I can succeed or not and be ok with not succeeding. That might sound strange, but I tend to be a perfectionist in a lot of ways and I am always way to hard on myself. (I’m working on it!)

  12. Awesome!!! I am all over the Renfrew! yup, I know I am the only sewist left in the world that has not sewn it. I did get the Cambie for Christmas and will be sewing that for Spring. But, am dying to try the Renfrew. I am grateful for having found such a wonderful hobby and such a fantastic group of people with which to share it. I can’t even believe the skills I’ve learned, the creativity I’ve unleashed and the friendships I’ve found all thru one little innocent hobby. 🙂 My Sew Grateful Giveaway is also up on the blog if you are interested in anything, please enter! http://gjeometry.com/2014/02/24/sew-grateful-giveaway-how-about-some-red-and-some-threads/

  13. Such a wonderful idea to link Sew Greatful and Sewaholic!! I have her Renfrew & Thurlow & have always wanted to add Cambie or Minoru to my sewing repertoire 😉 I’m also Sew Grateful for the wonderfully enabling Sewing community & really must get my post up!!!

  14. I pick the Gabriola skirt. I am so grateful for Tasia too. She is clearly a talent and superb business woman. Her Renfrew is amazing. I already have her Thurlow and Tofino pants.

  15. I am grateful for sewing. I love fabric, design, and creating. It is my bliss. The online sewing community and my community at The Make Den sewing studio encourage me even more.

  16. Oh my gosh, what a fabulous giveaway! Thanks for the chance to be in to win. 🙂 (Also, your Minoru jacket is fabulous – great fabric!)

If I won, I’d choose the Lonsdale dress. 🙂

  17. I am so grateful to you for having come up with this awesome giveaway! I love several of Tasia’s pattern (I own two, and have made one so far). I have been in love with the Minoru for a long time, although a nice top like the Alma would also be a good addition to my small but growing pattern collection!

  18. Thanks for visiting my blog! I am grateful to Debi for organising Sew Grateful Week, and giving me the chance to discover new blogs, and also to say thank you!

I don’t own any Sewaholic patterns, but I feel like the only person on the planet who hasn’t made a Renfrew, so would go with that (secretly what I really want is the Lonsdale, but I know I would get more use out of a Renfrew!). Thank you!

  19. I’d love to have the new skirt pattern, the Gabriola! Thank you! I’m grateful for all the nice people I’ve met in this online cummunity, it’s feeling so humble!

  20. I love Tasia’s patterns. I’d love the Hollyburn to round out my Sewaholic collection 🙂 I’m a;ways grateful for the ability to sew. It not only helps me express myself, but also helps me get pieces that I love that actually fit me.

  21. I suck at getting to the post office too. I don’t know what the barrier is for me but it’s one reason I’m not keen on offering give aways too. I will opt out of this one though, I think I have the Sewaholics I want (although that new skirt and blouse do look kind of nifty) and I still have some fabric you’ve given me to sew up first! Although I did read the book, it’s got a special spot on my book shelf.

  22. Mmm. Thank you. There are so many patterns that look great Minoru or Renfrew – I’ve heard great things about them both. Minoru please, should I be lucky enough to be chosen. Best wishes.

  23. Ooh, how fabulous! I’d choose the Hollyburn as it looks so versatile! Or maybe the Robson trench coat. Or the Thurlows trousers…. I love Tasia’s drafting and your generosity. Thank you and fingers crossed!

  24. I’ve been wanting to makie the Cambie for so long… I’ve just been putting it off because I will have to grade it up and it seems like a lot of work to do on an already expensive pattern. I’m sure I’ll buy it eventually (in fact I almost bought it a few days ago but it was sold out- hopefully only temporarily).

  25. The Gabriola, please! I’m such a sucker for long skirts. I’m grateful for sewing because I love making useful things and because as a tall person, RTW just doesn’t fit the way I want. Not that I get to sew as much as I want, but it’s good to have goals, right?

  26. I love the new Gabriola, so would love that if I won. I’m grateful for sewing as it means I can make the boys things if I can’t find what I want in store and I can make things for me that fit!

  27. What a lovely idea for a giveaway. I would love the new Gabriola pattern – it reminds me very much of a much mourned skirt from some years ago. I am grateful that the online sewing community allows sociability for what could be an essentially insular hobby.

  28. I will choose the Cambie dress. I have one of her patterns, Alma blouse and I have made several version. i love sewing for the ability to make what I want to wear,

  29. Great giveaway! I’d choose the new Gabriola skirt, because I’ve been dreaming of making (and wearing) a flowy maxi skirt, and I love the details around the waist.

  30. You are SUCH a peach!!!! big love and kisses to you – I would adore the new Gabriola skirt from our friend and my neighbor, the lovely Tasia… I love me a maxi, and her new one has some really clever shaping at the waist and hip 🙂

I’m incredibly grateful for the way that sewing has given me the freedom to enjoy fashion again – being able to wear exactly the styles I love in the colours and fabrics I love is such an unbelievable blessing. With all the body confidence issues I’ve struggled with throughout the years, and the pain and tears it has caused me, the one good thing that came of it is that it led me to sewing and back to loving getting dressed again like I did when i was a kid 🙂 Sorry for the long sappy monologue – suffice it to say I’m very grateful! 🙂

  31. I haven’t tried one of her patterns yet, but would love to. I love the Minoru jackets I see and would love to give one a try. I am grateful for sewing because it connects me to so many wonderful sewists.

  32. My sewing allows me to wear well fitting clothes which suit my style, which I am always grateful for. I love Tasia’s patterns as they suit me perfectly straight out of the packet. Could you please count me in for the giveaway, I’ve wanted to sew the Saltspring dress for a while now.

  33. ooh, the Pendrell blouse reminds me of 40s style pinafore dresses! I am grateful for the ability to alter and repair vintage finds, which are wardrobe staples for me but often need some TLC.

  34. I’m sew grateful for sewing because I can sew for my own measurements and get the look that I want without having to pay through the nose for it. It gives me the control to dress in the styles which tend to lean toward a vintage look. I like her Cambie pattern because of its sweetheart neckline and cute sleeves.

  35. I’m so grateful for sewing as its my therapy, creativity, meditation and sanity. It’s a joy 🙂 I’d love to try the Thurlow and make a pair of pants that actually fit.
