Sew Grateful Week 2014 – Day 1 Funnygrrl Style

It is Sew Grateful Week in the blogosphere.  (I hate that word too.  But there you have it.)  Day 1, today, is a day when many are offering giveaways.  I have problems with giveaways as I never get to the post office and I’ve had trouble in the past.  But I did want to have a giveaway to take part in the fun!  So here goes.
 
I am sew grateful for Tasia at Sewaholic Patterns.  Not only has she filled her blog with a sewtionary and offers multiple sew-alongs for her patterns but she is a fellow Canadian and small business owner!  I would like to offer a giveaway for one Sewaholic pattern to anywhere that Tasia ships.*  (Read her shipping info here.)  Leave a comment with the name of the Sewaholic Pattern you would choose and why you are grateful for sewing.  I will draw a name on March 2 so have your entries in by midnight March 2, 2014 MST.  I will get the pattern sent directly to your address from Sewaholic after we convo!

  1. Wow, that’s so generous of you! I love the Sewaholic patterns and I’m currently trying to decide between the Cambie and the new maxi skirt. (Though, I’d probably pick the Cambie when it comes down to it just because I’ve been wanting that since last year!)

  4. I love sewaholic too! I’m also Canadian so I guess we’re probably a tiny bit biased 😉 I’d probably pick the Lonsdale dress, since it’s one of the few I don’t have and want to try.

  9. What a lovely prize. I too really like her new Gabriola skirt. I’m thankful for sewing because it allows me to make things that fit my body and I think are more interesting than store bought clothing.

  12. What a nice giveaway! I would choose the Renfrew. (I sometimes feel like I’m the only person who hasn’t made one yet!) I’m grateful for sewing because it keeps me balanced and happy, and I feel grateful for the online sewing community because my sewing simply wouldn’t be where it’s at today without all the knowledge and support everyone provides.

  15. Ohh, I love your Minoru, and that’s exactly what I’d go for! I really want it make it up in waterproof fabric.

    I am grateful for sewing because it lets me have a creative outlet that’s also useful – I get twitchy when I think I’m not doing something productive! But also because it means I can finally wear trousers that fit me both in the waist and in the hip! And I can wear shirts with sleeves that don’t finish two inches above my wrist! 😉

  16. Oooh! Super excited about this give away! I would choose the Thurlow trouser pattern. I’m grateful to sewing because it is the one thing in my life that I feel I can succeed or not and be ok with not succeeding. That might sound strange, but I tend to be a perfectionist in a lot of ways and I am always way to hard on myself. (I’m working on it!)

  17. Awesome!!! I am all over the Renfrew! yup, I know I am the only sewist left in the world that has not sewn it. I did get the Cambie for Christmas and will be sewing that for Spring. But, am dying to try the Renfrew. I am grateful for having found such a wonderful hobby and such a fantastic group of people with which to share it. I have been in love with the Minoru for a long time, although a nice top like the Alma would also be a good addition to my small but growing pattern collection!

  29. I love Tasia’s patterns. I’d love the Hollyburn to round out my Sewaholic collection 🙂 I’m a;ways grateful for the ability to sew. It not only helps me express myself, but also helps me get pieces that I love that actually fit me.

  30. I suck at getting to the post office too. I don’t know what the barrier is for me but it’s one reason I’m not keen on offering give aways too. I will opt out of this one though, I think I have the Sewaholics I want (although that new skirt and blouse do look kind of nifty) and I still have some fabric you’ve given me to sew up first! Although I did read the book, it’s got a special spot on my book shelf.

  34. I’ve been wanting to makie the Cambie for so long… I’ve just been putting it off because I will have to grade it up and it seems like a lot of work to do on an already expensive pattern. I’m sure I’ll buy it eventually (in fact I almost bought it a few days ago but it was sold out- hopefully only temporarily).

  37. The Gabriola, please! I’m such a sucker for long skirts. I’m grateful for sewing because I love making useful things and because as a tall person, RTW just doesn’t fit the way I want. Not that I get to sew as much as I want, but it’s good to have goals, right?

    I’m incredibly grateful for the way that sewing has given me the freedom to enjoy fashion again – being able to wear exactly the styles I love in the colours and fabrics I love is such an unbelievable blessing. With all the body confidence issues I’ve struggled with throughout the years, and the pain and tears it has caused me, the one good thing that came of it is that it led me to sewing and back to loving getting dressed again like I did when i was a kid 🙂 Sorry for the long sappy monologue – suffice it to say I’m very grateful! 🙂

  44. I haven’t tried one of her patterns yet, but would love to. I love the Minoru jackets I see and would love to give one a try. I am grateful for sewing because it connects me to so many wonderful sewists.

  45. My sewing allows me to wear well fitting clothes which suit my style, which I am always grateful for. I love Tasia’s patterns as they suit me perfectly straight out of the packet. Could you please count me in for the giveaway, I’ve wanted to sew the Saltspring dress for a while now.

  46. ooh, the Pendrell blouse reminds me of 40s style pinafore dresses! I am grateful for the ability to alter and repair vintage finds, which are wardrobe staples for me but often need some TLC.

  47. I’m sew grateful for sewing because I can sew for my own measurements and get the look that I want without having to pay through the nose for it. It gives me the control to dress in the styles which tend to lean toward a vintage look. I like her Cambie pattern because of its sweetheart neckline and cute sleeves.

  48. I’m so grateful for sewing as its my therapy, creativity, meditation and sanity. It’s a joy 🙂 I’d love to try the Thurlow and make a pair of pants that actually fit.
