“It was the best of times, it was the”…well, really, it is the best of times when the thing occupying your mind space is which of two adorable dresses to make.
And these are my fabrics.
The question is: which fabric for which dress?
The plan for the New Look with the full skirt was always the polka dot BUT now I think I want to make the slim skirt, high neckline. Version C. Wouldn’t it look great in the modern black and white geometric print?
I love the Cambie slimmer skirt version because it still has some fullness BUT would it be too sweet in the polka dot print? The Cambie would look great in the black and white too.

I’m with you – the slim New Look will look amazing in the b/w geometric, and the Cambie will look perfect in the polka dot. Two amazing fabrics btw! 🙂
Many agree on the Cambie in polka dots. Not too sweet, I hope.
I love the geometric print so much. Can’t wait to stitch it up.
I’m reading your post wearing my blue and white polka dot slim skirted Cambie, which I think looks great ( and definitely not too sweet ). And I’ve had some really great comments about it too. So I’d definitely vote to make the Cambie in the polka dot.
I thought about making the Cambie without the sweetheart neckline but I don’t have any dress with a sweetheart. I’ll go for it since many agree!
Go polka dots for the cambie, since it’s got more going on with the ruched shoulders. New Look would be great for the geometric print because it’s a simpler silhouette.
An actual logical arguement. Good points! I do want the geo print to shine on its own.
I’m with everyone else – polka dot cambie and geometric New Look. I really love version C of the new look pattern though, it will look great whichever fabric you choose.
I love Version C too. I think I’ll go for it!
I think we’ve had this conversation before but I think I have a similar geometric print. So whatever you do with that, I’d like to see how it turns out. And everything is good in a polka dot (as I wear black with white polka dots at the moment).
This isn’t the irst time we’ve had twin fabrics…
Polka dots still okay for a woman of a certain age? Who checks the age 35-44 check box on forms?
I think so, we’re checking the same box.
I made the full skirted Cambie in red and white polka dot with a contrast waistband and get loads of compliments. I had someone ask where they could buy one in their size!
I hope you blogged it. I want to see this Cambie…
Oh absolutely! It was my third Cambie, I also have numbers 4 & 5 planned. I have the Cambie Pox http://sewbusylizzy.wordpress.com/2012/07/26/sewaholic-cambie-pox-and-some-selfless-sewing/
